Dreaming your dreams

2.5 million years ago, man learnt to work stone to make tools. Rome was founded in 753 B.C.
In 1970, Luigi started collecting stones and objects of historical value, first in the Roman countryside and
then on his travels. He did this for the next 40 years.

In 2023, Luigi passed away and his collection was inherited by his children.
Each object was photographed and declared to the Italian cultural heritage authorities.
Luigi was my father. When I was a child I used to get up early on weekends to follow him in his research.
Then my parents separated and our paths diverged. Now that he is gone, I decided to tell his story and mine.
In reconstructing this story, I discovered that the places we used to go have changed profoundly, ploughed
land has been replaced by amusement parks and shopping centres.

I don’t know whether this project will help me cut the thread that used to bind us or knot it again.
